The composition is based on the artist’s interpretation of an embroidered wall hanging from a Jewish home dating from 19th century Sarajevo. The original embroidery is on display at the Orthodox Synagogue / Museum of historic old town Sarajevo. This romantic composition draws the viewer back in time to when the Jewish community found shelter from the expulsion of 1492.
